The prayer – Jashagetzook – is very well known in Armenian homes. It is recited as a blessings to give thanks to God for his bounty. I drew the pomegranates to border the prayer because they are the symbol of Armenian culture as well as the symbol for abundance and prosperity. My illustration is printed on canvas and mounted on an 8″ x 8″ wood panel that’s ready for hanging.
The prayer reads:
Jashagetzook
Khaghaghootiamp
Uzgeragoorus
Vor Badrasdyal eh
Mez ee Dyarneh.
Ornyal eh Der
Ee barkevs yoor.
Amen
Translation:
Let us eat
In peace
This meal
Which the Lord has made.
Bless is the Lord
For all His gifts.
Amen.
